Ob-La-Di-Ob-La-Da Life Goes on…to Rishikesh
Recreating the Beatles journey to Rishikesh, we will set off on our five hour drive the morning after our international arrival to Delhi. This is the pace the Beatles kept – hopping into old Ambassador taxis and heading north the next morning after their flights from London. We will travel more comfortably, but we we make the same journey by individual cars as well with expected arrival to Rishikesh by late afternoon. On this drive you will see the sights, feel the chaotic clamor, and share an experience that has not changed in all these years. Your perspective about their journey here will certainly be enhanced.
They say it’s Your Birthday…Party for George
Arriving by sunset to Agra on the eve of George Harrison’s birthday – observed on February 25th – we will begin our 24-hour Party For George. A gala dinner kicks things off, followed by pre-dawn wake-up to visit the Taj Mahal. There, we will watch the sunrise for a very “Here Comes The Sun” moment. By day’s end, we will travel to majestic Tijara Fort, a heritage palace high atop a hill. At sunset we will enjoy a reception on the terrace overlooking the grand Rajasthan plains. Following dinner, we will gather for a sitar recital by local musicians.
Mother Nature’s Son…set off into the foothills
We will walk in the foothills of the Himalayas just above the powerful Ganges rushing below us. High above the clouds, we will share in the pristine nature of one of the most beautiful places in India. Birdsong and tranquility will fill your senses. You may even spot a monkey or two along the way. If you want, an optional rafting trip can be arranged to traverse the robust white crests over the turquoise waters of the Ganges.
Sexy Sadie…It’s all in the clothes you know
Although John Lennon immortalized the Maharishi as ‘Sexy Sadie’, we are more concerned here about looking our absolute FAB best. You will choose a garment from our Rishikesh Collection – clothes inspired by what the Beatles or their partners wore while at the ashram. A custom version will be tailored for you to your specifications. On offer will be “The Paul”, “The John”, “The Jane” or “The Pattie”…or perhaps you’d prefer “The Donovan”.
Maya My Dear…you’ve always been my inspiration…don’t forget me…
Meet Maya…she’s a beautiful rescued elephant and she will never forget you. Spend time at one of India’s best rescue centers for Elephants and Bears. We will get up close and personal. You will hear the stories of how the animal came to be rescued. And rescuers will share what is being done to protect these magnificent creatures . Your expert guide will accompany us on an elephant walk and we will feed these lovable giants. You will come away with a deeper appreciation for the workers who make this possible and for the animals in their care. Be inspired by the amazing pachyderms. Fall in love without riding one – elephant love, not elephant ride. You will never forget Maya, my dear.*

Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill…deep in the jungle where the mighty tiger lies
An exotic jungle safari to Ranthambore National Park takes us deep in the forested region of the Aravalli Range to track the majestic bengal tigers…but you can rest assured Bungalow Bill will not be coming along. Absolutely no hunting allowed – these wild cats are now protected. India is home to 70 percent of tigers in the world. And thanks to conservation efforts, populations have increased. Look for the pug marks (tiger tracks) because a tiger may just be close by.**
** For those continuing through the Extended Itinerary 2, a tiger will be adopted for one year of care in an Indian sanctuary.
